license key problems

I must be doing something very wrong.  I signed up for the forum.  Got my email and clicked on the URL.  I signed in to the forum, but keep being told I haven't signed up yet and can't find any place to download the license key.  I have been going in circles for a while now clicking on things but no key yet.  What am I doing wrong?
