AV-Compariatives: A site about antivirus programs
« on: February 05, 2007, 12:03 PM »
Here's a great site with reviews and lots of useful information about antivirus programs.

On this site you will find independent comparatives of Anti-Virus software. All products listed in our comparatives are already a selection of some very good anti-virus products. In order to get tested by us, companies must fulfill various conditions and minimum requirements.
To stay informed about current tests and releases, please also have a look to our Weblog.

Comparative results will be available for all officially at those dates:
1st March and 1st September: comparative results of on-demand detection of virus/malware
1stJune and 1st December: retrospective/proactive test results

The following products were used in the last comparative (with best possible settings):
Look into the Comparatives section and scroll down to find out additional tests and reports.

Avast! Professional Edition 4.7
AVG Professional 7.1
AVIRA AntiVir Personal Edition Premium 7.01
BitDefender Professional Plus 9.5
Dr.Web for Windows 95-XP 4.33.2
ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus 2.51.26
F-Prot for Windows 3.16f
F-Secure Anti-Virus 6.12
G DATA AntiVirusKit (AVK) 16.0.7
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0
McAfee VirusScan 11.0
Norman Virus Control 5.81
Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 12.2
TrustPort Antivirus Workstation 2.0
VBA32 Workstation 3.11.0

If you plan to buy an Anti-Virus, please visit the vendor's site and evaluate their software by downloading a trial version, as there are also many other features (e.g. firewall, behaviorblocker, etc.) and important things (e.g. compatibility, graphical user interface, language, price, etc.) for an Anti-Virus that you should evaluate by yourself. Even if quite important, the data provided in the test reports on this site are just some aspects that you should consider when buying Anti-Virus software. The results of our old survey can be found here...
