Tekzel:
At the risk of sounding like a boot lick, I only have 1 indispensable program:

Find and Run Robot

Others I love:

Gyula's Navigator : I use this file manager at work and I have never found one that has a great combination of features that I need:  It is freeware, is completely portable so I can run it off a USB stick, and (this is the biggie) uses its own built in copy/move code and not explorers.  I use it to transfer data from failing drives and such so when explorer encounters an error copying, for whatever reason (in use, etc) it just STOPS.  This is infuriating.  This program gives an error then moves on to the next file.  I use the next program to answer that dialog.

RTVReco : Used to automate dialog clicks, works really well.

OpenOffice.org 2.0 :  I actually prefer this to MS Office.

PStart : I use this program for autorun menus on my CDs, USB drives and my 2 external tech drives that have about 2 gigs of tools, programs, etc loaded on it.  LOVE this program.

BartPE with Reatogo : This combination allows you to make a boot CD that is just amazingly powerful for working on broken XP systems.

Notepad++ : This is my text editor of choice, I use it for everything including my ASP scripting.  Fast and furious, great great program.

MP3Tag : My favorite MP3 tag manager.  Works really well.

Doppler : My favorite, and in my opinion, THE best Podcast client out there.  It has a few minor bugs, but it more than makes up for it in functionality.

There are more, oh yes there are more.  I just don't have the time! I may make a list and make another response.
