Montage Videos
« on: September 16, 2021, 04:34 PM »
Sometime I see a special movie I would like to obtain parts of the movie and join in a seperate file.
How can I do that the most simple way with freeware ?

Can you say a little more about what you want to do, the source and length of the video clips, etc.?

The source is a movie of about two hours and a half.
The clips to be extracted are about 5 minutes.
The number of clips 10.

I have selected by my own means two :
ShotCut - Free
OpenShot - Free

I have tried the last one and lost. I don't understand this program.
Best Regards

P.D. I would prefer the real recommendation of a real user.

^ were they recommended by someone?
Do you not trust gizmo's recommendations? I'm not saying they always right, but if you don't get any personal recommendations, it's a good place to start.

e.g. for one app they say:
"impressive features, simple and intuitive user interface". Sounds good to me...

I prefer DC
Anyway you only mention gizmo, but don't make any proposal.

Seems for android....

I prefer to work on my desktop for these things. It's more confortable usually.

^sorry about that -- but my point remains Contro.
If there are no recommendations from DC members, why not try Gizmo's recommendations? (Or other sources - how did you get on with ShotCut?)
You can then let us know how good they are, if they do what you want, are easy to use etc. thereby giving something back to the community.

AVIDemux:
Load the movie,
Move to the start of a section you don't want,
Hit cursor up or down to move to the nearest I-Frame,
Control+PgUp to mark the start,
Move to the end of the section,
Hit cursor up or down to move to the nearest I-Frame,
Control+PgDn to mark the end,
Control+X to remove that section,
Repeat as necessary,
Save.

If you haven't made a cut on an I-Frame you will be warned.

Otherwise there's also Lossless-Cut if you like funky interfaces.

I do this once in a year.
Usually the first attempt don't give me results. But I control , or try, the post in DC, so the next time I usually gets.
But Now I suppose I will get in the first time....

I’ve tried a lot for that very same task and, in my opinion, the three free ones that are, at the same time easy to use are:
-VideoPad: Easiest, but kind of “nagware”.
-Olive Video Editor: Still in beta, but works well and the learning curve is not too steep. Lots of good tutorials in the web.
-Tool Rocket Vid Clipper: The one I’m using at the moment. Good quality, not too heavy results.

Thanks a lot of course. A very good help.
At the present time I have adopted AviDemux.
