Location of settings for FARR?

<< < (2/2)

dordabis:
I must say this program has the most unusual placement of files...configuration settings in the user documents folder (no other app does this). It breaks a lot of coding conventions, and this is not a good thing.

dordabis:
It's okay, I deleted FARR and installed Everything. It searches instantly, not on-the-fly.

Search time went down from sometimes 20 seconds to 1 second.

wraith808:
FARR and Everything are not the same type of program.  And a lot of FARR's conventions are because it is a program from an era before Windows had solidified its conventions for a lot of things.  But there's space for many different types of tools for many different types of users, so if Everything does what you want, then that's good.

Nod5:
Is there any way I can permanently change the location of these settings? I have some folders I use for settings used in multiple apps

You could make a hard link. That way you can backup/edit the settings in one file location while FARR reads/writes/uses settings in another file location.

Like wraith808 wrote, FARR and Everything only partly overlap in features. Everything finds any file on NTFS drives instantly. Raw power! But Everything lacks the kind of custom filters and actions that the FARR aliases feature offers. I think both programs are great.
