Google has a backup function that should make it easier to move your contacts, mail, photos, apps, etc. from one Android phone to another Android phone.

I have no experience with it, but should be ok. Google is pretty familiar with Android....

If you have an iPhone and you have it backup to iCloud, all you need to do is log in with your iCloud account and everything download and will show up. If Android, what @Shades said.

If you are going from iPhone to Androud or vise versa, if I remember right each has their own way of importing from a different OS. You'll have to research that.
