AVG sntivirus possible false positive report this morning on win 7 system files

(1/1)

mouser:
Just a heads up that AVG antivirus *might* be throwing false positive alerts on some valid windows 7 system files this morning, prompting people to freak out about a non-existent threat and delete valid files.

I got these alerts on one of my machines this morning and suspect it is an error.

Note: This has nothing to do with DC software, just posting it as a heads up.

mouser:
Just a follow up, official response from AVG (see that thread), has confirmed that it was a false positive mistake.  No actual threat.

This vaguely related:

I recently uninstalled AVG for a Windows 7 machine using their own removal tool --
after it had removed AVG, I got this message:

AVG sntivirus possible false positive report this morning on win 7 system files

which (literally translated) says:

An incompatible anti-virus discovered:
Microsoft Security Essentials
We strongly recommend you uninstall it, so that your computers performance will not be adversely affected.
Note I have nothing against AVG, but ironically, on this particular old laptop with crappy cpu, I was removing it because it was slowing down things too much.
