Capture PDFs
« on: April 19, 2016, 07:34 PM »
greetings 1st post
Was wondering if SC could include capturing pages / text to "normal" pdf files?
Reason: I'm finding that pdf docs created in Chrome using either Microsoft to pdf OR Bullzip, now only create images of the page... ie: not searchable pdf docs nor can you hihlite text.
Spoke to the author of Bullzip and he basically confirmed that's where it's going with pdf software.
Solution is to buy a commercial copy of Adobe pdf OR use Microsoft Edge, which produces searchable text docs but has other issues!
trusting the above is correct, as it is from my desktop using w10.
best regards

should have checked beforehand
I see SC does capture to pdf... but it also saves the Chrome / Edge doc as an image. I'm guessing that's the quickway of doing things.

be interesting to see if that the case with all PDF creators -- do you know is the problem with Chrome specifically, or more with the PDF printer?

There are many other PDF printers out there. I'm using an older version of PDFCreator (possibly comes with OpenCandy) which has no problem printing a 'proper' PDF via PaleMoon:

(Dont have Chrome installed here to check.)

IIRC the free version of PDF XChange Editor does provide free OCR.
