looking for a way to simplify crediting stock providers when using DeviantART

(1/2) > >>

The_Great_ESCape:
I am an artist, unfortunately of the starving variety. I
frequently download and use stock images from deviantart.com to use
for reference, but it usually requires credits and a link back to
the page that the image was downloaded from or the user's profile
page. In order to make this somewhat easier on myself I generally
download the image and then save a link to the page as a file in
windows 8.1 and rename it to match the name of the image so that I
can easily find the page again later when I need to find the
information to credit the stock creator.  I am wondering if there is
a way anyone can think of using any of the tools here, Firefox
plugins or anything that could further simplify this process including
other approaches which might work better.

Anyhow, nothing urgent obviously, just thought I would ask. I
know there are tools to download entire galleries which is great,
but doesn't really help with my particular problem of needing to
provide links back to the parent page (not the image itself).
Ideally if I could just download an image off of DeviantART some
program would parse the information and download the images, create
matching named link and place them in a sub-folder generated by the
artist's user name.  Or even use a robot to rip an entire gallery at
a time in the same fashion. Which of course would be useful if I
liked more images than not in a given gallery.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness question. I hope it is clear
enough to understand and thank you very much for taking the time to read it.

Just click and drag the icon at the left side of the address bar to your Windows Explorer and it will automatically create a shortcut to the page.

Here's a demonstration on one of the first images I found on DeviantArt's front page:

The_Great_ESCape:
Yes, and that's not far from what I do... except that I title the shortcut to the page the same as the image so that I can match them easily.  However, even though it's a simple task... it can get awfully tedious, and adds a lot of time if you are collecting a lot of reference images.

This strikes me as a general request that could really be useful for people..

A sortable/filterable list of all downloads made through a web browser, with date, url, page title, downloaded file name, downloaded file thumbnail, (maybe web page thumbnail).

I'll bet a lot of us would have use for such a thing to help remind us where we found something.  Being able to sort/filter by website would help narrow the list down, as poster requests.

It seems like it could even be a coding snack to get the appropriate credit.
