Old topic but figured I would post anyways...
I usually only have Gaim (now Pidgin) and LaunchBar Commander running in the taskbar notification bay. I use TrayIt! and have FF and Thunderbird in there when they are open, but thats about it (I gave up on startup applications a while ago). I don't run much because playing games that require more CPU speed then you have doesn't mix with running lots of programs too. :P
