Ludum Dare 33: August 21st-24th, 2015

Deozaan:
Hi folks! LD33 is next weekend.

Right now voting for a theme is taking place.

http://ludumdare.com/compo/

I won't be participating this time, since I'm heading out the door any minute to start a week-long trip. I won't be back home until partway through the game jam.

I'll update this post with more of my usual details (like links to past events and stuff) sometime after I get back.

See previous DC posts about Ludum Dare:
Ludum Dare 32 - (I made Time Bomb during LD32)
Ludum Dare 31 - (I made Worm Wars during LD31)
Ludum Dare 30 - (I made Planetary Devourers during LD30)
Ludum Dare 29 - (I made It Came From... Beneath!! during LD29)
Ludum Dare [29] topic for other games - A thread about LD29 games.
Ludum Dare 23 - (I made Be Tiny, World! during LD23, and continued to work on it and improve it for years afterward!)

Here we go!

Less revved up this time, but I feel a tradition I have to poke my way at least a little around the LD's.

First up is one that's gonna be darn tough to beat in the Mood dept.

The thing is, it's a fairly simple "tree decision" adventure, and it makes or breaks if there's actually a way out.

I poked at it, but I wasn't up to trying to grind it out. And I don't know the mood here, if people want "spoilers" or to do it themselves. Maybe if someone finds a win ending, they could use that spoiler tag we have here.

TaoPhoenix:

This section goes for some quick posts without a big writeup:

- Play as a ghost in PacMan! (Amazing that Namco isn't grumpy! I think I saw someone else got yelled at by Nintendo.)

The web version doesn't seem to work though. I had to download the Windows version.
Rated Phoenix Easy if you use strategy.

--- End quote ---

I played a game like this many years ago called "PacMan vs." It was up to 4 or 5 players (can't remember for sure). One player would play as PacMan and the others would play as the ghosts. The Pac-Man player could see the entire screen but the ghost players could only see within a relatively small circle around themselves.

Okay, this is one of the early fun finds for me in Ludum Dare 33 "You are the Monster".

The art is almost not to be believed for so short a time - I think the devs said they borrowed stuff, but it's still grand!

It's pretty well balanced too. I got to 3600ish points, and I'm sure someone with good reflexes and the patterns down can get over 5000. It really wards well timed combos!

It is a Windows download with an installer, but it's worth it. The devs stayed focused and didn't try to over-do it, and worked hard to get it smooth. I didn't see many bugs. There's possibly one where you shoot the big flame and your health keeps going down, but that's minor.

So a lot of fun!
