Question about "Add note" to right-click CHS tray menu

<< < (2/2)

IainB:
Yeah, well, the virtual folders/SQL filters are a pretty useful (if not powerful) combination. I was blown away when I realised they were there and started to learn how to use them. I guess it's a hang-on from @mouser's stated original idea of developing a PIM, but then later narrowing it down to becoming just a clipboard manager.

Similar to NoteFrog, which has some nifty search and saved search ideas incorporated into its design. I discovered that it even had a kind of internal hyperlinking, but when I commented on it in a ß test I was told they didn't realise it was there and they disabled it as it was "dangerous" or something, and was not intended in the design.

The Add Note feature is something that has always been in CHS, it's just normally triggered with a hotkey (see hotkey tab).
It's a way to quickly add a hand written note to the database to the group of your choice.
So you're not meant to use the clipboard at all in such a case.

Ooops!  :-[
Please accept my apologies....
(wished I hadn't posted it)

Frankly, I've never known it was there/never used it.

I simply updated CHS to the latest version, then looked at release notes, noticed this [added] feature and wrongly supposed it was indeed new.

tsk tsk tsk ...
Then, on top and making things even worse, thought I came up with something new.. ai!
 :)

@IainB - Many thanks indeed for your reply/suggestion.

Have added 'Notes' to the columns, which definitely is very handy!

As said, sofar I have been using CHS pretty much default, except for minor changes to its settings, like color.
Color settings are about the same as yours by the way: Tree: RGB 255 255 192  - List: 192 255 192 - Preview: 192 255 255.

Sofar the My Notes-thing, well, I haven't paid attention to it.

The rough idea I had was a kind of semi-automated 'filing' of clips taken, with a minimum of manual input, whilst using -optional- settings.
In my example browser clips would -(tag) optionally- be sent to a subfolder named after the domain
or (tag)optionally be sent named after source
and similarly titled (Excerpt) as in the main window.

One could even think of adding a new group (subfolder) under the created/existing folder.

e.g.
\My Notes
...........\DonationCoder  (domainname, tagged option, see above)
.....................\About My Notes (manual input, specifically about this item only)

This, a little with Outlook Notes in mind.
I donot use Notes - one needs to use special plugins to make it work when creating notes from browsers not being Internet Explorer.

One may indeed be using SQL, but as for me and no offense meant,
(I have high respect for those who are familiar with SQL, really I do)
I am afraid, I prefer not to go that way. It is too complicated.

Yes, sure, for guys like you, familiar with SQL, this may be a piece of cake.

I prefer to have things more -say-  GUI-driven.
