The comments there about Freakonomics are spot on:

I tried to get into it before, but found it very superficial. On the econ side, I like Peter Schiff & Gerald Celente. They have some good shows.

my favorite podcasts are Dan Carlin's Hardcore History and Common Sense with Dan Carlin.
The history pod cast is especially good. It is entertaining and interesting to even a non-history buff.
