Found this is the patent:. The animal toy of claim 1 wherein said main section includes a wood.

How is "making" a wooden stick out of a piece of wood considered a creation?

My friend, who tried to patent handbrakes on wheelchairs, also had an idea he wanted to patent for a basketball auto return for practicing free throws.  It amounted to a hinged wooden rectangle with 2 folding legs.  The idea was it would be attached to the stem of the backboard about 3 feet above the ground.  When you pulled up on the bottom edge the two legs would slip into place creating a 45 degree angle.  When you made a hoop the basketball would bounce off the wood and return to you.  You could keep shooting and practice by yourself without losing your position at the free throw line as long as you made baskets.

Way simple.  But at least it did something that may have sold if he just made them rather than worrying about patenting the device.
