Current web-based RSS readers - What is your pick?
« on: August 10, 2014, 08:54 PM »
So, with Google reader long gone, and many products having time to develop themselves, what are currently the top picks that everyone is using for news consumption? I am only looking at web-based solutions, not desktop.

I'm using two...........

http://www.feedspot.com/

http://www.inoreader.com/

I've got another that I've used since the Dark Ages........... it misbehaves on Win8

Abilon.com  ........... used it a long time, but it's hard to find now. Last seen on a site in Romania I think... looks shady but the download was clean and it worked until Win8....... alas :(

I'm one of the Google Reader refugee who have found shelter in The Old Reader. Made by fellow 'victims' of Google Reader shutdown, it looks and behaves almost exactly like Google Reader.

I also tried Digg Reader but I find The Old Reader suits me better.

We're wandering off into the woods here but 321downloads has been around a long time and along with Abilon I see Move On Boot, another old app, and one I still use. I have it installed on Win8.  :)
Haven't tried it on Win8 yet but I'm betting it still works.. :D
I hope Contro doesn't see these posts. If he sees all that freeware in one place he won't surface again until Xmas...

None of the above unfortunately. I don't like any web-based RSS reader I've tried so far.

For the moment, I'll stick with the FF Sage extension for RSS and continue to use gPodder to aggregate RSS's close cousin: the podcast.

Just renew the subscription to Bazqux Reader which I read on the web and using JustReader on Android.

For web rss, netvibes have become my old reliable. I find newer rss readers follow the Google Reader mantra of not capturing old articles in feeds and it has come to a point nowadays where I just write down the website if I want to find new articles.
