gdiplus.dll problems

(1/1)

Weedonald:
does anyone know how to get gdiplus.dll to work. I updated Windows 7 and now many programs say it is missing. I tried everything and cannot do a reinstall as I don't have disks only the OEM on my new computer.

thanks for any help,

Weedonald :P

Try to run windows update, use System Restore or SFC
As a last attempt you could run this registry cleaner,

kyrathaba:
How long have you had the new computer? I try to backup using System Restore at least weekly, and do a full hard-drive image at least monthly, as well as after any major grouping of updates that seem -- after a few days' time -- to be playing nicely.

If you have been creating Restore points, try Restoring, first to the most recent Restore point, then to succeedingly earlier ones as necessary.

Once you get this sorted, do you have a second drive (internal or external) to which you could backup operating system images, with either the Windows 7 built-in Backup, or perhaps with Macrium Reflect Free edition?

Curt:
I had the same problem on my 64-bits Win 7 when I started using Wondershare Player; Windows would put up an error message saying "this program cannot launch because gdiplus.dll is missing, please re-install". I didn't understand the problem because there already was a copy of GDI+ on my pc, and a sfc /scannow didn't change anything, so what was I to do? After some arguing with Wondershare, the support guy offered me a copy of GDI+, and I grabbed and placed it in Wondershare Player's folder: VoilĂ ! The problem was gone!

app103:
Do you have the file and is it located somewhere within your Windows folder?

If the file is there, try this:

* Hold down your Windows key and tap the letter R
* In the Run box, type this and hit enter: regsvr32 gdiplus.dll
* Restart your computer.
This will register the file. Now try whatever app was giving you the error and see if it runs ok.
