Talking to ones transport isn't uncommon especially after it stops running at a stop light or in traffic. I've noticed kicking as well. ;D
Listening is equally good. Sounds it didn't make before that may need attention.
Stuff like hard(er) starting, rough idle, whistling, screeching, grinding, squeaky brakes, steering wheel vibrations...
