An extremely well attended talk by Hugo Teso, a security consultant at n.runs AG in Germany, about the completely realistic scenario of plane hijacking via a simple Android app has galvanized the crowd attending the Hack In The Box Conference in Amsterdam today.

Really hard to believe that the aircraft manufacturers let this one go like that.  Perhaps the FAA will come down on them and make them fix these vulnerabilities.  They should have thought of this before they even installed the equipment in an aircraft, it's not like it's a big secret that hackers try to get into anything.  And for terrorist hackers, this would be the golden ticket, destroying an aircraft without having to take their own life.

No... the proper response is to ban cell phones from airplanes, of course!  :-\

If only the passengers could all be drugged in-flight, and the airplane remote-control flown by a hardened military AI...

From what I understand, it can be done while safely on the ground to an aircraft flying close by, so outlawing phones on the aircraft won't make any difference.  Wait! Ohhhhhh!  I get it!  lol.
