Gameforge: Nothing but a scam.

(1/1)

KynloStephen66515:
A few weeks ago, I got roped into playing a game called Tera Online.  After deciding to play the EU server (Rather than the US Server), we chose to download the client via www.tera-europe.com - The US one being http://www.enmasse.com/.  Well...At first, I saw no real problems, but then I got talking to people who play, who claimed to have had zero response from submitted tickets, no mod response on the forums, and many MANY more problems.  Asides from the fact the EU server is way behind in terms of patches!

When Gameforge first released the game (On physical DVD), they didn't even bother changing the name on the box, from their old, tarnished name, and didn't bother advertising the game at all...now, since marketting is the least of their problems, I shall ignore these facts. (Oh, there is also NO mention of Tera on the Gameforge Portal website)

After going free-to-play at the beginning of February, more and more problems began to rise to the surface.

They offered those who had already paid a subscription, some code, that would allow them to get some bonuses, and also get full use of the 8 Character slots (F2P users get 2 slots).  Now...That sounded fairly cool...however, seems that not a SINGLE person ever RECEIVED what they where promised.

Alongside the above, there is also a Cash Shop (To be expected on a free2play game) - Now, in itself, this is no real problem...until you want to buy the points that is...Sometimes it can take 24 hours to even see the points in your account!

There is also something called Tera Club (Jesus...All these different purchase options eh!) which gives you bonus items and such, for a monthly fee.  This was problematic from the start.  A friend of mine decided to purchase this option, and found the items being delivered to the wrong character (One he was going to delete as it was only there so he could see what the class was like) - Now, take note here as well...the items are NONE transferable...so there was nothing he could do to get the items on his main character...so he submitted a ticket (I will go into this further down).

In the last game patch (Nobody is even sure what this was actually for...they said more cash shop items and a new Tera Club item delivery system, but...none of that seems to be true) they told people, that if they had Tera Club, they could now login to the website, and select the character to send the item to.  Heh...This section doesn't even exist...and those who purchased Tera Club BEFORE this change, have been charged, yet received nothing. (I have openly told people in game chat, to force a charge-back on their credit cards for this)...Seems like a scam to me...

Anyway...Onto the support (What support?!)

Tickets simply get ignored...They don't answer a single one...I have spoken with appx. 25 people in game who have submitted a ticket...and NOBODY has ever received a reply, myself included.

Gameforge: Nothing but a scam.
Ticket I submitted on the 7th March, then added a complaint within it, today.

After some searching around on the internet, I see MANY posts on the enmasse forums, BEGGING them to take control of the EU servers...I guess this is a pretty difficult thing to do, legally (Since I guess they are both just licensing the game from the owner/developer.)

Anyway...If the game is something that seems interesting to you (I mean...don't get me wrong, graphically, it is stunning...the story is awesome, and the gameplay is amazing...alongside a multitude of other good points I have for Tera).

Remember...This is NOT a complaint about the game, but instead, about Gameforge.

Avoid the company, avoid any servers they host, instead...find an alternative host of the game (There is a bloody good chance there will be one, if it's listed by them)

+1 there! :D

The game company is Bluehole Studio:

I've actually done a lot of work for them on Tera, so I'm kind of biased. However, I must say that they have their act together very well, and I've done a lot of work for a lot of other game companies.

But, if anyone wants to give up on Tera, please do consider Cabal Online:

And yeah, I own stock in the company that produces it~! ;D And, I used to work for the company! So I'm rooting for Cabal all the time!

Bluehole Studio are just the devs, and not the people who RUN the servers...So, I have no issues with them...other than the fact they must have the ability to be able to withdraw Gameforge's contract and award it to a company who will actually make the game what it should be...with customer support that actually responds :P
