AussiePup:
Hi Everyone,

Just downloaded about an hour ago.  Looks really nice and I will definitely donate, if I end up using it.

There are 2 options that I'm not sure of their purpose and therefore what goes in them.

1.  Custom Internet Browser
2.  Custom File Explorer

Also, even though the help is dated March 06, there are differences and omissions, such as I have a Display tab in the options, but there is no help file for this.

Thanks for any help you  may be able to offer.

I bet you will ;)

The Custon Internet Browser and file explorer allow you to set the programs that will open web links and folders. If you don't set anything, the system defaults will be used.

It's true, the latest version still doesn't have the full documentation, but the options are quite self-explanatory. Still, if you have any doubts, I'm sure someone will gladly explain it to you if you ask here in the forum :)

reply sent via email but here is what i said for others who might be interested:

Custom browser and file explorer are used as follows:
there are occasions when the program launches your internet browser
(like if you launch a url), or opens your file explorer (if you ask to
browse the directory where a file lives).  normally it will use your
system-registered default internet browser or default file explorer
(windows explorer).  but some people like to use a special browser or
explorer for use with farr - so this let's you override system
default.  not useful for 99% of people and safe to ignore.

as for .cpl and .msc: right now farr will find any files by filename,
BUT it won't your control panel items if that is what you are asking -
this is something quite a few people have asked for and it's on the
todo list for v2 which is coming soon.  so it will be in an upcoming
version there is no doubt about it.

Don't forget there is an easy workaround to the Control Panel Problem. Simply make a folder (which can be searched) and drag all your control panel icons to that folder (just hit Ctrl A and then drag them all to the folder). It should create a set of shortcuts, with identical names as your control panel applets, which will then be searched and allow control panel items to be run from F&RR.

great tip, Carol.
