Wow, these ARE getting popular:

With CosmoPOD, you get the same desktop, whenever, wherever. Your desktop lives online, so its not glued to the computer you happen to be using!

(love those Gant3 icons...)

DesktopTwo
Desktoptwo is a free web-based desktop or webtop (some call it a WebOS, although we feel that's a bit premature... for now) that mimics the look, feel and functionality of a local computer, all contained within one browser window and fully accessible from any Internet-connected device.

P.S. clicking the thumbnails get you screenshots...

Veign:
Is it just me or are others bothered by the term online OS?

Not sure there can ever be such a thing since an OS is an interface between the software and the hardware (so its a platform for which all other software will run).  If you don't have an OS, then you wouldn't be able to run a browser and therefore could not connect to this 'online OS'.

Not sure why that term bothers me so much but it does and it totally turns me away from testing any of these.

Call it what it is.  A customizable portal.

Ruffnekk:
Same here Veign. I don't know what it is exactly, but for me it's also the reason for not even wanting to take a closer look at it... A nasty gut feeling   :(

Edvard:
In the case of Cosmopod, it's a little more correct... you are actually using a remote os.

With the others, I agree... it's just a web app programmed to act like an os.
