From what I understand, if you move the post that is being quoted, the link should be broken (I'm not sure, though).

Should be broken ? Why ?
It should not. But it _is_ being broken, unfortunately.

To check whether the link will be broken
it is enough to substitute the original topic identificator in the link
to another one, any.

In the sample link
https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=16974.msg290716#msg290716

replace "16974" with, say, ~7104~.

Then on donationcoder.com forum
the changed link will lead to the topic 7104 where the original post is absent.

On grivitational forum such changed link
would still lead to msg=290716
regardless of topic id in the link.

It is because Move Topic does not change the topic id in message link.

Split and Merge topics - do change topic id
and do break grivitoniks, if they were used.

Right, that's it.

Do a search on gri or grivitiniks on Google (or look at Gri's other posts here)... I wouldnt worry too much about understanding.

I did, and they are all posts from him saying the same thing, in some insane, none English fashion

I'm lost, and will probably never be found on this one, so I shall leave this to people who know how to translate this lol

You want even more humor?  Click on his post count under his name.  See all of the posts on DC by them.  This can't be random information generator the whole time, can it?  I mean... this is on purpose?
