Microsoft Says Recovery From Malware Becoming Impossible

i think in general, once you get hit with some real malicious software (not simple adware), then really the only safe solution is a complete reinstall or rollback.
which is why EVERYONE should have a plan in place for this. Assume you are going to have a hard drive crash and/or bad issue, and have a plan for restoring your computer. get together the info you need to do this - perpare a list of your main software and serials, a list of any customizations you've done to your pc, etc. anything you would need to recreate if you had to recover from a disaster.
With the price of pcs these days, it may even pay to buy another computer to get some experience recreating your system from scratch if it's been a few years since you've done so.
