Image Tile Joiner
Smobu:
I have a hard time finding a freeware program where you can joiner images together in nonlinear strip.
Supposedly I have images a,b,c,d,e,f.
I wish to orientate them where I can specify the columns and rows like 2 by 2 or 3 by 2.
ex.
a,b
c,d
or
a,b,c
d,e,f
IainB:
Try Windows Image Composite Editor (ICE) - a brilliant proggy.
Should be able to do all that you want and more.
Hope this helps or is of use.
Smobu:
I'm not sure if ICE can perform a nonlinear joining of images. :(
IainB:
Oh.
If your images are not part of the same overall object, then, yes, ICE probably would not help.
I think it figures out the borders/joining points of the pix and then puts them into a logically connected 2D array, for example:
R1C1 R1C2 R1C3
R2C1 R2C2 R2C3
R3C1 R3C2 R3C3
You can give it the pix in any order, I gather, and it will figure out which Row/Column to put things in.
I think it is designed that way, so, if your pix are not actually parts of an overall object, then it probably could not work.

Smobu, you can use my freeware painting program ( http://www.rw-designer.com/image-editor ) for that. The easiest way would be this:
1. open the first image, but instead of opening it normally, use the dropdown arrow on the Open button and select "open as animated image" (or click Create->Create animation after opening the image normally)
2. drag and drop the other images on the lower part of the window on the list of frames to create an animation with all the images
3. click the Animation->Create filmstrip from main menu and then select the number of columns - the program will arrange all the animation frames into a single image in left to right, top to bottom order
