RIOT tool that respects folder hierarchy? (for JPEG compression?)

<< < (6/7) > >>

dcsev:
wtf? That  is so very bizarre. I am able to replicate this 100%.

Here is the image I am using: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/-J_7Q6NMqVo/maxresdefault.jpg

Before compression size: 318kb
After compression size:  265 kb

I double click on it the JPEG file and press SHIFT R in Xnview (rotate right). Save the changes

Post-rotate size: 901kB♥

 wtf?

Post-rotated and compressed again:  260kb

4wd:
Unless you've changed XNView' hotkeys Shift+R is not Lossless rotation.

Lossless rotation is Control+Shift+R/L and if you want to avoid XNView trimming unnecessary pixels from the edges then you need to use the menu Tools->JPEG Lossless Transformations->Dialog and deselect that option as shown in my image above.

What you're doing is using normal rotation and then when you save it, it is recompressing the image using whatever options are set for JPEG compression, which looks to be close to 100%.

Lossless JPEG Rotation acts on the original image immediately, there is no need to save it afterwards.

And after a Lossless 90° Right Rotation, the image is 261kB.

If you use the shortcut, (Control+Shift+R), the image will be trimmed by 8 pixels (1072x1920).
If you use the Dialog, it won't providing you've deselected that option.

Bingo. I think this is it.  Could explain why JPEGr (another AWESOME program) also has the same problem

dcsev:
Ok, I understand your explanation and I followed your directions exactly and I still am having the file size issue problem.

I have "use Lossless rotation when possible (JPEG)" in Xnview  Under Settings / Browser/ Misc (3rd/last checkbox) ENABLED.
I open a photo (compressed with Photoresizer ) in Xnview
I press SHIFT CONTROL R
Save
The file size doubles.

What am I doing wrong?
