edge browser difficulties

I can't get the updated Edge web browser to set duckduckgo as the default search engine and also as the new tab default page.
Edge keeps saying it denied permission and to select 'Settings and more' but I can only find 'Settings' not 'Settings and more'.

It also stopped giving me the option to read out loud web pages, and Cortana is totally impossible, so now I don't have a functional text reader.
