My freshman year in college, we had a couple of the girl's gymnasts on my dorm floor, so our crew got to know the team pretty well.  Anyway, the flexibility is cool and all, but every single one of those girls was jacked up from gymnastics.  i don't know if it's the intense training or the fact that that kind of flexibility is just plain too much on the body.  But it was nearly 100% rate of just odd injuries.  knees, shoulders, hips.  It was quite shocking to me to see that happen in 4 years.
