HELP! How do I download a movie file in a swf Flash file?

(1/3) > >>

Ice Queen:
Plse Help!

I'm using URL Snooper to try and download a short movie, the URL it gives me is http://www.dancingonice.com/goodfellas/main.4.swf  How do I get a movie out of that?  And how can I download it?

I've watched it many times online, but want to download it before they take it off their site!

Any help would be gratefully received!

Many Thanks,

Angela

Online flash movies are usually FLV files. After viewing them online you can find a copy in your browser's cache (Temporary Internet Folder). Just go there, copy/move the file or use Skrommel's CacheSort (just be sure to add FLV as filetype in CacheSort.ini).

Anyway, since I was kinda bored at work (ssshh, don't tell), I've leeched all videos and copied the download path from the browser's cache. Just right-click and save as.

To view FLV files you'll need a FLV player. Get one here:
http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3000-2139_4-10467082.html

There are also FLV to VIDEO (avi, wmv) converter tools, but I know of no freeware.

WalterK:
Hello I did some research on FLV files, seems videolan player can handle it and to convert using freeware found two programs.
Riva FLV Encoder and SUPER if one fails try the other, not all Flash movies are created the same way.

FLVplayer will play .flv files

Both are freeware

You can actually configure (in the options tab) url snooper to launch a non-default browser i.e. download manager.
I use Net Transport but i've been hearing good things about gigaget http://www.gigaget.com/,which basically does
the same thing.I highly recommend complimenting urlsnooper with a download manager that can download streams.

I found this posting from a few months ago and tried the programs that are mentioned in it  but as far as I can tell, none of them will allow you to download and save a flash video file running on a website.

Is there is a way to do this?
