I use Tab Kit too, and primarily because it does a lot of the stuff I would have used Tab Mix Plus for, but unlike Tab Mix, it's compatible with most other extensions. Tab Mix Plus has a long history and reputation for not playing well with other things, and I didn't want to take a chance that it would break stuff I want to use.
