How to save/restore layout of windows on desktop?

Problem:
When I'm at work, sometimes I take a laptop to a meeting and connect via Remote Desktop Connection to my desktop at my cubicle.  The problem is that my desktop is a dual monitor setup, and I have windows set up on both monitors.  But when I connect remotely, the laptop has to reorganize all those windows into one screen.  When I return to my desktop later, all the windows are all shuffled around and I need to put them back in their place.

Question:
How can I save the state of my dual monitor desktop, and restore it quickly when I come back to my pc?  Is this something that I would need to use a virtual desktop manager for?  Like dexpot?

Thanks.

Maybe Fences would work:

Stoic Joker:
Not sure if it was RDP v6 or Windows 7, but IIRC they "fixed" that by allowing the remote desktop to be side-scrolled so it isn't/wasn't/doesn't get resized/scrambled.

Update:
I just quickly tried Dexpot without spending more than a minute setting it up.  So far, it seems to be working!  I'm pretty happy about it.

Stoic, if that's true, I'm glad they fixed that.  that would be very useful.

Veign, thanks for the suggestion.  If Dexpot doesn't do the trick I'll try that out also.

I like fences.... keeps related programs grouped together.

I sed to use Icon Restore which takes a snapshot which can be restored later from the context menu. http://users.rcn.com/taylotr/
