For some reason I'm reminded of Commander Keen from the description, yet at the same time it doesn't fit.

Another game I know of that prominently features medusa heads is Castlevania, but I didn't know there were any PC versions of the game. And there certainly wouldn't be a jetpack in Castlevania.

Wasn't there a Doom-like game that took place in spaceships? I seem to remember that having a lot of blue and weird aliens/monsters. Ah, but then again, I suppose FPS doesn't really fit the description either.

I guess I'm not helpful.
