Anyone have any tips for ASCII formatting?

Maybe YAML is a solution. Not too much extra syntax (if you don't want to) and has already parsers for languages:
C/C++, Java, Python, Ruby, Perl, C#/.NET, PHP, OCaml, Javascript, Actionscript and Haskell
