Newsmap is a rectangularized tree map view of Google News.

Apparently, Google too has an alternative news view. News Timeline lets you search the news and results are displayed in a timeline format.

newsmap looks neat but I feel overwhelmed by it.

Also it took me a while to figure out how the customization thing works. It works different from my newsreader, so it will take time getting accustomed to it. It surely looks more colorful than newsbeuter.
