irkregent:
a lot more addons were ruined by the last Firefox update. I have removed it and moved to "ESR" (Firefox Extended Support Release ESR):
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.3.0/releasenotes/

This way one can keep all the extensions and still have a browser accepted/made by Mozilla.

The developer(s) behind Waterfox intend to keep support for "legacy" extensions in its releases of the Firefox-based browser.  Of course, that is just one part of the equation.  If the extension developers keep giving up on their projects, then browser support is moot.

The otherwise very fine EPUBReader version 2 does not install on Firefox ESR.
EPUBReader version 1.5.0.12 is needed for ESR: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/epubreader/versions/?page=1#version-1.5.0.12

-thank you for reminding me. I was using it for many months, but got tired of being told by various robots that Waterfox was obsolete. It seems Mozilla has changed their policy on that subject.

EPUBReader version 2.05 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/epubreader/ works on Waterfox (version 55)

(...) pave the way to keeping add-on support in Waterfox. Waterfox now uses its own separate profile directory and migrates all your existing data to it. In the coming weeks the website will get an infrastructure update to pave the way for an add-on store.

Waterfox will also be coming to Android, (...)-Waterfox

just saw this on Ghacks - Download Star, a Down Them All alternative for Firefox

its been written as a web extension so compatible when all else is failing.  Currently matches the core functionality, but lacks a lot of the niceties that down them all has

Curt:
"LEGACY" used to be a good word, a word you would be pleased to see. Now it's a word to be scared by, a word to put you down:

Forgive me, smart phone users in particular, this is a looong picture; 662 x 3687 pixels (162kb):
