Question re modifying (system) DLL's

(1/1)

Clogmeister:
Hello,

I'm new to CircleDock (just 30 minutes  :) ).
So far I like it very much (I also use RocketDock).

BUT: Call me paranoid but why is CircleDock accessing (and presumably modifying) DLL's like audiodev.dll and so on?
I run Comodo firewall/defense in paranoid mode (especially when installing and trying out new programs) and I got bombarded with messages re modifying DLL's. In case of extending the shell I can imagine adding some hooks but audiodev????

Can someone clue me in on why this is necessary?
I don't feel very comfortable right now about using CircleDock.

mouser:
More knowledgeable people will post a fuller reply i hope -- but my understanding about these hook dlls is that depending on the type of hook it can "appear" like its attaching to all sorts of files and dlls, but it's not modifying them or doing anything to them, it's just the nature of the hook.

hollowlife1987:
I don't know how circle dock was made and haven't looked into it much, but there is an way for a program to hook all dll's not just specific ones its all or nothing from what i know. So it could be using that method.

Clogmeister:
Update:
It seems that Comodo Defense+ shows a lot more messages, even the obscure ones, than their previous release. Other programs on my box spawn these messages as well.
Of course I should have checked the Comodo forum first before posting my concerns about CircleDock modifying DLL's (mea culpa).
I hope the people behind CircleDock don't think I'm disrespectful (it was not my intention) of their work.
For me CircleDock is a keeper  :-*
