hello

I want to have another entry in the 'open with' list for a specific filetype, but when I choose the exe I need to have in the list, it doesn't remember it

is there any chance to fix this?

thanks

This issue has plagued me on and off for years. IIRC, there is a registry hack that covers this... I'll have to look it up and get back to you - hang on a tick!

Darwin:
OK - that went quicker than I thought it would!

Here's a link: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/OpenWith.htm

that might help you. If nothing else, check out the permissions/ownership on the registry key that is mentioned: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ FileExts

And here's an MSDN article discussing how to populate the "Open With" list:

thanks for your reply

it's hard and dangerous to directly edit registry, isn't there a program than can customize open with list?

NigelH:
Try openexpert
