Can't download files - firewall blocks AutoIt as 'virus'

(1/1)

doonyakka:
Hi. When I try to download any files, I end up with the following error:

This request is blocked by the SonicWALL Gateway Anti-Virus Service. Name: Autoit.CD (Trojan)

Is this a DC server-side denial or is it more likely to be the network I'm on?

Cheers

jgpaiva:
Hello doonyakka!
And welcome to DC. :D

Could you be more specific about the software you're trying to download? Which program is it?
From the description of the throjan, that sounds like one more of those false positives on autohotkey, the language used to build some of the software on this site :(

doonyakka:
Thanks for the reply and welcome :)

I've tried downloading a few of Skrommel's files (eg., ToddlerTrap, FindFocus and a few others), but wasn't able to get any of them.

I'm sure it is a false positive, as you say, but the question is where is it being blocked? Is SonicWALL installed on DC's host?

jgpaiva:
Oh, I supposed it was installed at your computer, or at your workplace.
If it isn't at any of those, could it be at the ISP level? Now that'd be surprising  :-\

[edit] If you can't download skrommel's apps, you can always press the green "h" to download the code, then go to autohotkey.com, install it, and double-click the code you downloaded, it'll run as if it was an executable :) [/edit]

doonyakka:
It's definitely not my computer, but I'm currently on a university network, so it's likely to be that.

No problem, I'll just wait until I'm on a different network.

Thanks for the help! :)

[edit] Thanks for the tip, I'll do as you suggest. [/edit]
