Disabling Acrobat 8 IE integration
imtrobin:
Hi
Does anyone knows of a way to disable acrobat IE intergration, so when I click on a pdf file, it will ask to save instead of opening automatically? In previous version, there is a nppdf32.dll file to delete, but for version 8, it does not work anymore.
Darn, I hate Acrobat, but the other viewers not ready to replace it.
cranioscopical:
Failing all else, could you write a little script to pop up a requester and -- if desired -- run acrobat on the file? You could then set .pdf's to open with that instead of Acrobat itself.
PhilB66:
Try to disable with ToolbarCop. It's a browser extensions manager which can disable or eliminate the following browser add-ons selectively from Internet Explorer:
* Browser Helper Objects (BHO)
*
* Toolbars
*
* Standard Toolbar buttons
*
* Context menu Extensions
*
* Download managers
*
* Protocol Handlers
*
* Horizontal / Vertical Explorer Bars (side-search bars)
*
* Startup applications originating from RUN registry keys.

apparently you can create a "transform" file when installing. just googled and untested: Deploying Adobe Reader 8 .x
justice:
http://download autoruns and disable the ie integration and browser helper object for acrobat reader should also do the trick.
