USB Flash Drives: What to look for or avoid.

I used a Corsair (blue) recently and the speeds were unimpressive - also, the cap still sits loose and slips off real easy. Still, a nice drive if you're someone prone to dropping stuff all the time. :) No other advantages to speak of.

Reg. the GTs - that's shocking coz the premium is really high!

Hm, didn't know about that - it's been a while since I bought my 2gig drive, and that one is definitely fast. Perhaps the reason for SLC->MLC switch is price related?

I didn't know either until I was looking to buy one and saw that the 16 GB - which had always gotten great reviews at Newegg - was now getting bad reviews for several weeks, all due to this changed technology. 8 GB drive was just starting to get the same when suddenly Newegg temporarily stopped sales. They were issuing RMA's for so many.

I ended up with a Kingston 8 GB Data Traveler 100 for $31.00!!  Good enough speeds for my purposes!
