Pagebull - the Visual Search Engine
« on: January 11, 2008, 02:24 PM »
No, it won't replace Google anytime soon, but it's pretty cool anyways...
What makes Pagebull different from other search engines?
Pagebull's sophisticated search process gives you actual screenshots of the search results. Most search engines simply list the site. You have to click on them to find that the site is not quite what you wanted. With Pagebull, you can see the front page, allowing you to sort out the most helpful pages for you. And Pagebull helps you to avoid harmful content, so you can surf the Internet more secure.

Looks nice - interestingly a search for my name comes up with my site third (top right) but there is no screenshot (just an empty white square)

I tried the search in IE7, FF and Opera.

See for yourself HERE

I wonder why?

I don't know, I've seen that happen before with some searches.
It seems rather random...

They're still kinda small so you might shoot the developers an email or hit their forum.

nice.. though we should point out that there are firefox extensions that do a pretty good job of adding thumbnails to normal google (and other) searches.  Here's one: http://ackroyd.de/googlepreview/

pagebull is great for re-discovering websites. The textual information usually changes quickly but the look and feel doesn't, so it's easy to spot "your" site with all the screenshots.
