The first true vaccine for your PC
« on: January 01, 2008, 07:53 PM »
LG launched a few days ago the closest thing to a real vaccine it could be developed for a PC... a pen drive filled with antimalware software ;D. You can find more about it in press release, but nothing interesting apart from how the antimalware software works (duh). And a shot of the thingie in this blog.

I'd like to know what software is running, and if those paltry performance figures shown at the LG site are true, because if the price (undisclosed at the moment) is too high, it may not be worth it, compared with premium models from Kingston or SanDisk.

Interesting.

My first thought was, "Wouldn't it need to autorun to be really effective, and wouldn't that in itself be a security hole?" :)

Let's hope that they do better than Apple at not shipping viruses on their hardware.  ;D

You're both missing the whole point.

A vaccine needs to be injected, yes? You're injecting your PC with the pendrive 8)

You usually get a vaccine injected with a syringe, yes? So umm, inserting a pendrive in your computer is like stabbing it with a syringe.

Drats, it was funny when I made it up :( :( :(
