I just tried reproducing this on my personal laptop and I don't get the same issue - so unfortunately it has something to do with my work laptop. As far as I can tell there are no shortcuts for the Your Phone app.
It's very strange.
I'll update this thread when I track down what it is.

2
Ran some tests - This behaviour happens whether I copy the bitmap image to the clipboard or not.
However it does not happen if I use the menu to capture the screenshot but only when my hotkey of Ctrl-Shift 2 or the default shift-printscreen to capture a specific region triggers the notification.
The shortcuts for printscreen for current monitor,  ctrl-prtscreen for everything, Alt-printscreen for window do not trigger it the notification popup.

Notifications on my phone already show up on the computer but for whatever reason this selected region (which i use ALL the time) triggers this notification.

3
I have the microsoft app YourPhone installed on my machine and everytime I do a grab selection with ScreenShotCaptor (4.36.1) v, I get a popup "Add a device, Tap to setup your S9" and my phone beeps to confirm the bluetooth connection.Screenshot - 20200629-100649.png
It's very bizarre behaviour. I'm assuming it's because I've just pasted something into the clipboard which could then be used to send to my phone, but it doesn't happen if I just copy some text from Word (as an example)

Any ideas why this would happen?

The Flow software is an awesome experience, allowing you to use the same mouse, seamlessly between multiple computers (up to 3) and can copy & paste text, images, and files between them, providing they are all on the same network. It also can copy & paste between a Windows PC and a Mac. That one feature, alone, makes this mouse worth it.
Microsoft have 'mouse without borders' which does the same thing. It's a more user friendly version of synergy.
One thing to be aware of, if you are actually connected to the computer that is at the other end of the house and then you have moved control to the computer you are actually sitting at, the mouse is very very very sluggish. It took me a whole day to work that one out once!

Screenshot Captor / Re: Error when capturing screenshot
« on: February 17, 2020, 07:36 AM »
Tried editing this on Friday and it seemed to work.
This morning I rebooted and it seems to have reverted back.
However the configdir.ini still points to my local onedrive location, yet the settings still show as my redirected folder location (see screenshot)
I did try moving the ini file to DonationCoder\ScreenshotCaptor directory but this didn't make any difference either.

Hi Chris, welcome to the site.

You've got it trying to save the screenshots in a place where it doesn't have permission to do so.  Just change the screenshot folder to a directory where you are allowed to save files.  The default would normally be something like your Documents\DonationCoder\ScreenshotCaptor\Screenshots folder..

So oddly enough I just got this on my computer this morning too.
When I launched the app (which for some reason didn't launch on startup as configured) the app seemed to hang for quite some time (20-30 seconds) and then I was able to take a screenshot.
I'm currently running a slightly older version (4.31.2)  (as i'm waiting for chocolatey to approve the install which is a whole other story!) and this is the first time I've seen this error message.
When I launched SC this morning all of my normal thumbnails are not showing up and the left screen is completely empty. When I went to File/Saving and loading, my screenshot folder is set to c:\andy\screenshots and not the location referenced in the error message (c:\program files(x86)\ScreenshotCaptor\screenshot - 20200214-113625.png)

If it makes any difference, my settings are stored in a redirected folder at \\servername\user$\myusername\My Documents\DonationCoder\ScreenshotCaptor\

I've had the funky empty screen folder show up occasionally and a restart fixes it (and did in this issue). I was also then able to take a screenshot and carry on as normal without the original error message posted above.

Just got notification from chocolatey last night that the new version failed checks (because the checksum changed). Updated chocolatey script this morning following my notes from 2 years ago and was very pleased that I could still make sense of them. New version has been submitted to chocolatey to get pushed out today hopefully.

In case anyone is interested and is doing their taxes looking for an alternative, taxact was a lot cheaper than the big two when I was doing mine. I now give mine to a local cpa who does it for less than it would cost me to file myself and includes the filing costs!

Screenshot Captor / Re: Change request - Captor File Naming
« on: December 30, 2019, 03:44 PM »
If you put the date and time together then you'd an auto incrementing filename with the added bonus of knowing when the file was taken.
My Filenmae is
      Screenshot - %customdate%
And the Custom Date Format is
    %Y%m%d-%H%M%S

This gives me a file named "Screenshot - 20191230-164310.png" - This also avoids comma's in file names that some web pages do not like when attempting to upload a screenshot too.

I use the splice all the time when taking screenshots of my browser and hiding the bookmarks  toolbar from the screenshot. No-one needs to know my shortcuts ;-)
Now if could auto detect a web page screenshot and auto remove the bookmars bar that would be pretty cool (but i'm not expecting that)
The scrolling capture seems iffy to me - a colleague of mine was just trying to get that to work and his browser would scroll but he couldn't get the page to line up - I couldn't even get my browser (chrome) to scroll!

I'd love, love, love  the feature request at https://www.donation....msg417352#msg417352 to give the auto numbering stamps

When you are done I'll have to dust off my chocolately script to update the new version - it's been a while since I updated the chocolatey package.

So this is now working this week oddly enough. The only thing that has changed is a possible office365 update (Now running Version 1803 build 9126.2259 CTR) and I also uninstalled Snagit.  I'm really hoping it was the office update and they don't break it in another update.

Yep. @mouser, do you have any ideas why screenshotccaptor is appearing as a different format on the clipboard to snsgit?

I checked on Monday - yes the onenote is 2010-2016 version and it's the same notebook that I was using where it worked for a week or so. I generate weekly reports for a status meeting and copy/paste web pages into the notebook so we have a historical record of stats for each week. So it's the same procedure every week.
I checked on a brand new notebook stored locally and a variety of other onenotes, most of which are on Onedrive and all generate the same symptoms.
It's weird that Snagit works correctly but ScreenshotCaptor doesn't with the same capturing of the region.
As it's the office365 version of Office, the client might have upgraded to a different build. I just ran an update to get the latest version and we're now running at version 1708 Build 8431.2270 Click-to-Run.

In case it matters after post capture I have play capture sound, auto select active window, but not if full width/height, Filename Balloon tip, add border and add Drop shadow to image.

Thanks for the continuing work on this Ian. I can't get the original fix to work on most/any of the notebooks now - I'll have to try it on the original notebook on Monday when I'm back at work.  I have tons of Onenote notebooks that I use - most of them are (and have been for almost a year) on Sharepoint. They are 2016 versions - I'll run some checks on a variety of notebooks next week and report back.

Clipboardic shows the following - the first entry is Screenshotcaptor automatically copying the image to the clipboard -
The 2-5 entries are Snagit pasting entries.
Not sure why Snagit copies 3 times but the type of media looks to be the same

Hi Ian - I missed the addin suggestion. Installed it just now and unfortunately nothing happens when I hit the paste button.
The option to always paste with formatting is not actually there.

Today I checked a paste from Screenshotcaptor and when I right click and choose paste, I only have paste as picture.
When I paste from Snagit I get the option to keep formatting, merge formatting or paste picture - the default to keep source formatting pastes in the normal image.

Is it the way the image is being copied into the clipboard?

Bumping this thread with more info. I have snaggit installed on my machine too as it allows me to autonumber my bullet points as I click which Screenshot doesn't.
Interestingly I can screen clip the same screen to Snaggit and then paste into Onenote with no problems.
Windows Snipping tool has the same issue interestingly enough.

Thanks cranioscopical - that worked for me.
Wondering what the $dt:%DATEFIELD$ is used for then.

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but I've run into this and am struggling to get this to work correctly.
I've started to come across several websites that don't like the comma in the filename that the normal datetime file generates so I want to change the name.
To me the instructions imply that if I put $dt:%DATEFIELD$ in the default filename tab, it will be replaced by the shortcodes defined under Custom Date Format.

However when I run this on my files I get MM_DD_YYATEFIELD as my custom text which is nowhere near what I had defined.

Thanks Ian - I'm running 1708 build 8431.2236 Click to Run which unfortunately is the Semi Annual channel.
Office updates states this is the latest version which I know is not right based on my experience and your post above ;-)

Setting to plain text and then RTF doesn't save the settings either. Frustrating when it worked for a couple of days and no longer working. I'll check on a couple of other machines in the office to see if they have the same problem.

So this morning - I'm back to half size onenotes again and the trick about pasting text as rich text, then selecting that as the default is no longer working. However the select all images G trick works which is good enough for me (for now) at least.

Ian - this works!!!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to research and find this. It will make my workflow so much more efficient.

Thanks Ian - Most of the time I don't actually touch Screenshot Captor - I just use my hotkey to select the region, select to onenote and press ctrl-c
That should then paste the selected region plus my border shadows into onenote at the full size (but onenote resizes).
If I select my full web page image (not from the thumbnails) and then paste into onenote it still puts it half size.
It's weird as the Onenote screen is wide enough to fit the image without scrolling AND the part of onenote for the text is also wide enough for the screen -
Screenshot below shows the image when pasted purely by pressing ctrl-v in onenote and then the same image pasted again and then "right click/g"'ed

yep - it does....grrrrr

You can right click and restore images to original size or right click-g. Interesting that the select multiple images/ right-click g will resize all images to original size (which is what I want) but the right click - restore images will only do one image.

Using the onetastic addin I can select all images and then right-click g to get them all to resize.

I'm pretty happy now ;-)
