I got the G9 & I think its the best mouse I have ever owned & one of its best features for me is the profiles.

All so the MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel comes in handy scrolling long web pages.

Just waiting for Logitech to release some more grips but wont hold my breath on that as it hasn't happen yet  :(

Living Room / Re: Hosting options for new website
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:26 AM »
im in uk too but http://www.servage.net comes with my recommendation, £4.50 so about $9/month, its doesnt have to fastest load times (see http://nico.yottagames.net for an example), but comes with 510gb disk space and 5.01tb BW/month. it also comes with an optional auto-installer option for software like joomla.

Few problems with servage is there Clustered Servers setup doesn't like install scripts as installing SMF(there autoinstall script says SMF1.1.2) & then any mods will give errors as the server takes ownership of folders/files after a test which make it a pain to work with last install I did was on a WampServer on my computer to make sure it was good & them uploaded the SMF folder & database & changed the config & anything in the database to the path on server.

Plus there web stats is not the best if you want detailed user info.

Living Room / Anyone that only seem to accept PayPal echecks
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:04 PM »
You download a program test it out on its trial & once you decide to buy it with PayPal they only accept echecks which takes 6+ days to clear for me .

Its so annoying as I have the funds in PayPal & have to go though the hassle of waiting for it to clear & to re budget to allow for it. >:(

I would have to second Slysoft CloneDVDmobile for paid software(Free lifetime updates) as you wont be stuck with one format.

Why do you use alt codes as names? just visually pleasure?

Just didn't want numbers or letters.

No all the shortcuts in the folders are sorted alphabetical anyway from when they are added

I tried a lot of programs for taskbars but didn't like any of them(just to much bloat for me) & settled on using a double size Taskbar & folders using alt codes as names which are added as toolbars & all so use Start Killer & PresStart to reclaim the wasted space under the start button

The orb is just a shortcut thats in a folder with no name by the use of alt codes to the PresStart program & the QuickLaunch is the last two icons to the right.

I think they even removed it completely for later chipsets, which screams "danger bloody danger!" to me.

Yeah on my nForce 590 SLI it doesn't have it.

All so if installed the Nvidia network access manager which is where you configure it alone can cause BSOD & problems so I all ways make sure I never install that with the chipset drivers.

General Software Discussion / Re: What is your boot time?
« on: January 31, 2008, 05:18 AM »
I've had boot lag issues for quite some time here.  I spent some time trying to find a utility - any utility - tha would log all events during bootup but there doesn't appear to be any.

Here is one not sure how good it is have only used it once quite a while ago BootlogXP & has 30 day evaluation period & Single license is $19.95

General Software Discussion / Re: The great defrag shootout
« on: January 25, 2008, 08:31 PM »
I have not used AutoPilot as I like to do most stuff like that manually when I know I will not be using my computer for a while plus since I have been using the old version it didn't take long for it to do its job anyway.

I am really liking the new GUI as it has got more info plus for me it is easy to navigate & defrag just one file instead of the whole harddrive.

One thing I have noticed is the Metadata has really a poor rating not long after a system files defrag due to C:\$Extend\$UsnJrnl:$J so I will be trying to work out why that is later.

BTW, does somebody know if there is some kind of a tagging framework for computer files (Windows)? It's such a universal approach to getting stuff organized, tagging for everything could be my next killer app.

Is this what you are thinking of http://www.tag2find.com/home.0.html

I haven't read all posts but I don't like the tag thingy too but I think a New Board or Child Board that you would need to subscribe to to see it would be better option with a disclaimer about what is in it or something a long those lines.

Going by ASUS your mobo should support 10 x USB 2.0/1.1 or 9 if its got a WiFi addon board Asus 8N32 SLI Deluxe
Deluxe/WiFi:Supports up to 9 USB 2.0 ports
Deluxe:Supports up to 10 USB 2.0 ports

Two of them would be used for the card reader so in all you would get 8 or 7 with WiFi addon board.

"Why do so many manufacturers put the stupid transformer blocks at the plug end of the cord?!?"

Yeah got to hate this as I got a large belkin power board & can only use 7 of its 8 plugs even though its got extra space between the plugs.

With my mobo ASUS recommend a 600W power supply but I got one of those watt meters & it only draws about ~380W(thats all components like monitor, etc)  running 3dmark06 will do some more tests with it & post it in the power slave topic

General Software Discussion / Re: Download Demons...
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:17 PM »
I use Free Download Manager which comes in a lite version with plugins that are in the full version if you don't want all of them.

What is Free Download Manager? It is a powerful, easy-to-use and absolutely free download accelerator and manager. Moreover, FDM is 100% safe, open-source software distributed under GPL license.
