I certainly wasn't suggesting a free for all, or that there should not be accountability for the actions people take.  My point was, and is, that there can be legitimate uses for these services.

seems to me that it all depends on what your job is if being on facebook and other social sites is not allowed.  The university I attend keeps at least one page on facebook, possibly more, I haven't looked, but a part of what governments do (or should do) is communicate to the people.  Sure you don't want secrets let lose, and you don't want the filing clerk throwing shoes at friends, but there are legitimate business/government uses for these sites.

Using tab mix plus double clicking on the tab bar is the default to open a new tab, so lots of options really

I thought the point of the piece was more  that the things around us need to be cherished more, sure they focus on music, but they are I think focusing on the idea that we rush here and there, we don't take the time to stop and listen to the music, or to look at the art or the trees.  There are a lot of bad street musicians, lot of bad ones in concert halls to in my opinion, and the same for artists authors and so on,  but if we take the time to look and listen we might find some real gems just in our daily lives.

Yep, a great job done by all concerned, well done everyone

Perhaps the main reason i use both locate32 and a full text search like x1 or archivarious is that locate32 and similar search programs will easily search your whole computer. Copernic and the others need to do a full and time consuming indexing which means i limit the folders it looks at.

some local youth club may be able to use the stuff, or some other charity if you are prepared to give it away

General Software Discussion / Re: HowTo find ALMOST empty audio files?

you could do it with something like Locate, tell it to search for all mp3 (or whatever) and choose the maximum size, it will return a list for you.

Thanks Lashiec, interesting, disturbing and also some fun stuff in that lot.

ahhh Jim, its doing that because the link in the first post is to the US site, each country has its own, so yes on the US site you do have to be a student (staff?) at a US college, but in other countries then its in colleges in their countries

;D  Thanks for that Edvard, that is great lol

I see them too Carol, last one was when I installed windows desktop search for another trial run with it, the installation process seemed to just pick the emptiest drive i had, which was an external USB drive at the time, to use.  I had thought they were coming from some installation but wasnt sure what, this day I hapenned to have a file manager open and watched it appear lol.  I just delete them, has never caused me any trouble, windows search uninstalled ok after the files were gone.

63
Yeah I agree, it does all seem a bit weird, I've only ever played with a bit of their software I've got off magazine cover disks, always seems ok but I've not used any of it long term.  But I am interested in this PDF editing ability, sounds particularly useful.

No, they didn't make a mention of it, they aren't particularly forthcoming about their free and cheap stuff, anyway its in the value store, the link is above, v10 is $29.99.

65
Not sure how easy it is to find their free and cheap site so here it is if you haven't got it, http://www.freeserif...PagePlus/default.asp

Looks like the free one won't do PDF but version 9 will which is under 10 dollars (or pounds) and version 10 is also very cheap compared to the new one.

even the coin in the mouth is sort of appropriate (as a proxy for an olive branch!).

Now there's a new twist, greed is good meets world peace.
