You need to open a terminal and issue a command (sudo apt-get remove unity-lens-shopping) which virtually guarantees 90% of the people using Ubuntu under Unity will never do so.

TBH, people using unity and ubuntu are smart enough to use this hack and this hack is used in myunity and official option of turning off amazon search. So I don't think people will ignore that.

Living Room / Mockup and Wireframing Software
« on: December 29, 2012, 11:07 AM »
I am in search of Wireframe, Stencil and mockup design softwares. I only found pencil project (free) for now which fits my needs. I will add more If I find anything worthy.

Pencil is built for the purpose of providing a free and open-source GUI prototyping tool that people can easily install and use to create mockups in popular desktop platforms.

Don't start all over again just for the focus. Keep few things focused on new forum software and give less public (non logged in) attention on other projects. Swith to IPB If you can.

See as well if DC can have section for attracting new developers with their software and you can seriously split the developers who want to offer deals and sales with the one that are introducing their own software.

It would be good if they come up with offline USB drives or some disks. Nothing beats these storage media's yet. Internet streaming can be slow in many parts of the world.

Looks like system similar to Mailing list providers. Only thing is that they are letting strangers to send message to you. It's like bribing your apartments security guard to let salesman knock your door.

NSFW Yeah

Well google is doing that with the image search for quite some time. Check the new image search update, they are making it harder for the image owners to get credit and more easy for the people to grab images from other sites with interaction between gogole and surfer and no credit to the original site owner. This type of update doesn't make it any different than instagrams policy.

I pointed out the deal between Google and AVG for the ads. From the consumer end, this is all I am capable of doing. I am not sure what else that you're expecting me to do here with real documentation, if any are ever revealed to consumers.

My point was about using the affiliate and ads in the search.

That's what we call to AVG and similar other AV which are now taking over affiliate links on pages.
Hmm? That's something that's completely escaped my attention - got any (reputable) sources on this?

I don't know if it's reputable for you : http://online.wsj.co..._qtpressrel_pressrel

If ubuntu is spyware for using amazon affiliate ID, what about firefox? I think GNU/FSF is exaggerating a bit here with word - "spyware". They want better ecosystem but I don't think thats not a good choice of word. Adware fits better for ubuntu and firefox. That's what we call to AVG and similar other AV which are now taking over affiliate links on pages.

Gimme bar saves the content, not sure if it saves in the form that lets you view source. I am thinking about firefox addon that could save specific state of the website so that we can access css and html later when we want.

« on: November 13, 2012, 03:59 PM »
Asus and Acer have few netbook models that are worth taking a look at (under 250$ on Amazon). Be careful with toshiba and HP for netbook, not many good reviews and experience for their models.

bitcasa is offering unlimited space for 10 bucks and there is free plan too.

I am using Pixlr (from autodesk) which also works just like aviary in cloud. Though not many options but it does let you work with images, add effects and most of the image editing suite features.

As for aviary, this is yet another sign where you can see cloud services are not at all reliable. Slight change in IT market trend and economy, and these services pull the plug. Many desktop apps survived the economy and trends but they don't pull plug this easily. I guess aviary spent a lot of money which was basically not getting them returns.
