Living Room / Re: World of Goo - Indie Game with Great Reviews?
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:04 AM »
I enjoyed Fantastic Contraptions but not enough to buy the full version.

However, I just played a few levels of World of Goo and you guys are quite correct - the playability is fantastic! I just purchased it and look forward to spending some down-time with it.

Heck, I might even let my 7-year-olds try it. Then again, maybe not - I probably won't ever get my computer back!  ;)

I know you are talking about a PDA device, but, just like my phone, there are specialist sites for just about everything.

Is anyone familiar with similar sites for Palm OS? I have a Palm TX.

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox 3 Released

type "about:config" in the location bar, then enter "network.http" in the search bar, and find pipelining - dunno if a restart is necessary.

Thanks, it worked! I restarted Firefox though, so I can't say if it worked without doing that.

How can HTTP pipelining be turned on? I missed seeing those instructions.

I'm having no trouble with the version of TabMixPlus mentioned above. Thanks for pointing it out, Marc.

Living Room / Re: Flash Game of the Week: Sonny (RPG)
« on: April 30, 2008, 06:44 PM »
Sonny is definitely NOT a shooting game.

The challenge is in picking the right equipment and skills to kill that nasty boss (Baron Somebody-or-other) on the third level- 30,000 life points!? Sheesh, I'm still trying to figure out how to get past him. I was able to get him down to about 6,000 before he killed Sonny, but I haven't yet figured out how to get past him.

The guy we joined up with for that battle was able to deal out about 3,000 hit points per turn after I cast the Aggressive spell on him (and here I thought I was doing pretty well hitting for about 400 points per turn), but my other sidekick got killed pretty quickly, and once the boss turned his attention to that new guy, well... let's just say that we didn't last long after that!

Awesome game, very addictive!

The window sticker would be my first choice, but my car would proudly display either one of those or a bumper sticker.

I got it. Had to re-submit, must have typo'd my email address.

Thanks Veign! :D

Thanks for your fine efforts once again, Darwin.

I like the new format, BTW.

Has it taken anyone else longer than 24 hours to receive their serial number?

:(  Just a short post to note that the free license code provided by Tech Smith doesn't work and the only response I received from an imquiary is a list of FAQ type of problem fix suggestions none of which are applicable.

This is probably a dumb question, but are you using exactly the same user name to register the program that you entered when you downloaded the installer?

Good job again, Darwin and everyone!

General Software Discussion / Re: ERUNT - Restore Replacement

ERUNT has saved my butt on several occasions.

It's definitely on my list of must-haves.

Thanks, rjbull. I just saw your post - I'll look for the update immediately.

Here's another vote for Renamer (used on WinXP Pro). I haven't tried BRU but I have tried a few others whose names escape me. I really like the options Renamer offers. I take a lot of digital photos and videos of my kids, and have found Renamer to be very, very fast even when renaming directories of over 100 photos to have a basic name and a sequence number (i.e. "School Concert 001.jpg, ..." It finished the process so quickly I had to double check to see that it had really finished!

The interface can be a little daunting at first, but it's well worth learning.

I saved my preset and just have to make a minor modification each time I use it rather than figure it all out again. It strips all the filename characters but leaves the file extension in place, inserts the new name you have chosen and serializes it, as in my example above.

If anyone wants a copy of it I'll be glad to share it; you can easily import it and tweak it to suit your needs.

Awesome utility!

Amen, Cloq.

Nice job, Darwin!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... "Awesome program and website, Mouser. Thanks!"

I'd like to see Vista support as well.

Also, I'd like to see an option in the next build to hide the icon in the system tray - perhaps a hot-key combination could open it. That way it would be less likely to be messed with by users who have no business messing with it (I service a lot of laptops for a college and I must allow all users to have administrative privileges).

However, I also agree that a small footprint is important, so if I had to make a choice I'd give up the hide-the-icon option in order to keep PT small.

Thanks, Curt & jgpaiva.

I downloaded it from the second of the two links Curt provided and it went just fine.

I found this rather odd...

I just doanloaded returnil's free application from their website and AVG informed me that the SHeur.FA trojan was attached to the download.

Hmm... Has anyone else seen this?

I use Unlocker a lot, myself - it's a great, easy-to-use utility .

Thanks for the article, Claus and the referral, zridling!

Great job on this program, mouser.

I have 3 questions about Process Tamer:

1. Do you have any information as to how it will work with Vista? Sorry if you've already posted it, but I can't find anything about this topic.

2. I'd like to include it on all the laptops I service at the college I work for. Is that ok with you?

3. If the answer to #2 above is in the affirmative, can you please include a feature in the next build to hide the icon in the system tray? Perhaps a hot-key combination could open it? That way it would be less likely to be messed with by users who have no business messing with it. (I must allow all users to have administrative privileges.)

Thanks- ssoundman
