A pleasure to help if I can. Thanks for all the effort.
Me too on the real work ... although the line can sometimes be elusive ... except when you check your bank balance. That has a way of crystallizing things.

Rock on!

Looks like it's handling the ddMMMyy format properly.

Yes, except on the last item (using ddMMMyy) it dumped the time.

And yes, OCD, ADD, hallucinatory bats, and too much coffee.  It's all in there!

Excellent! Carry on.
Let's have another cup!   :harhar:

As a silly American user having lived Europe for a long time and interacting with many there still, I have found that the only way to alley confusion on the touchy subject of dates is the format ddMMMyy or ddMMMyyy (or similar) all because of what we're wrestling with right now. This is also the only method which satisfies my deep seeded need to deal with orders of magnitude. (OCD's rule!!)

Here's the latest evidence:

Your patience is laudable! Or is it OCD? That's probably a programmer's requisite.

I guess I'll have to make a return visit to the Yucatan. Examples show day and month two ways. Could it have to do with my display properties for date and time?

Four digits is not an issue at all. In fact it's the correct way to do it!
But I seem to continue to have a problem. If I copy and past your example (Due 1/5/2008 0800) I get this:

I'm still having trouble but may also be getting 'wrapped around the axle'. Could we regroup by having a review of exactly what syntax is supposed to work? Then I may be able to determine if it's (this) operator error or not.
Thanks again and still, Ralf!

For anyone interested here are a few more pics of my old girlfriend.

I'd be happy to answer any questions but don't think that this is the right place (Mouser??). Suggestions?

Hahaha!!   ;D Glad that you seem to like the (partial) cockpit view. And, no, not all trucks look like that. I'm afraid that I had a bit of a reputation. It's some computer, some Ham Radio, some entertainment and some combinations of the above.

I'd like to convince you that there was NO steering wheel. Just a joystick. But there was one. The better to rest one of the keyboards whilst going down the road.

I did have a generator or, more precisely, and auxiliary power unit for services while parked. The power up was actually more than 5 minutes but the power down aided by a big red switch.

This is all somewhat off-topic here and I don't wish to transgress. But I've been meaning to put some pics on my Google Web Album for some time. Now's a good time to get it done if you care to see more. I'll return with a link.

No, Darwin, neither of those on this side. But I'm a transplanted Texan and veteran of 13 years of navigating just about every road in the US in a big truck so I've sampled a great many of the emporiums.

You're probably right. But I'm beginning to hear that Friy's isn't what it used to be in the computer department, either. Shifting focus to other consumer stuff and such. I have no experience with MIcrocenter.

Can't say that my experience was the same, Josh. I've had them custom build machines for me when I was driving 18 wheelers. I always bought the service plans and was able to get prompt service whenever I needed it anywhere in the country. I'd just park the truck at the loading dock area, bring the machine in and be seen to right away. They did carry the full range of Apple stuff but I never felt that it was at the expense of the PC line. They seem to have had a full range of parts and goodies and their service was FAR better then the nonsense at Best Buy.
Different strokes, I guess.

Finally, I really hope that I will also be busy installing operating systems (or whatever we use in the future) when I'm 74 years old. Thmbsup

Indeed! Rock on Cuffy!! 8)

It's coming along nicely! Thanks for all your effort.

I may be having a brain phart (if I had a brain) but I thought that we had got over the next year hump. If I put in something for e.g. 01/15 I get a negative time back to last January.

One small point: just about all of my "To-Do's" have a time of day attached and I'm a died-in-the-wool 24 hour clock guy. It would be handy to not have to put a colon in the time to make it work.
Pretty please?? :tease:

BTW: Delightfully sinister, the wave that won't go away. Fiendishly clever!!

My remote car starter will only allow it to run for max 30 minutes before it shuts off again.

I can't really vouch for VicMan except to say that I had a question about one of their own applications recently and got a pretty quick and meaningful reply.

BTW: I don't think that the link on their site actually gets it for you for free. It's a free trial just as if you had got to the makers' site on your own.

Having said all that, I think that Internet Owl may do all that you want. And it's free - period! I'm sure that a donation would be appreciated if you like it.

Internet Owl watches websites, and tells you when they have changed. The program runs unobtrusively in the background, monitoring websites for changes. When a change is detected, Internet Owl can inform you in a number of ways, like: Sending you an email, Popping up a window, or Playing a sound of your choice Stay Informed As soon as a page changes, you'll know about it.

 Good Luck! As a retired long haul trucker I know what you're dealing with!!  :)

Pretty neat! And I can see the value of such a tool. However, when I do as tinjaw has suggested it works fine UNTIL I right click on something/anything. Then the focus of the magnified area goes to the place where I've right clicked or the top of the context menu which that may have launched.

DocSavage: IMHO NeoSpeach voices are a bit better than AT&T. I have them both.

Re: the nick - it's not a matter of offense, orientation or preference. It's simply one of appropriateness and taste. There's a time and a place for everything.

Glad that we got down to the question asked and demonstrated the true value, spirit and intention of the forum.

DesktopCoral / Re: Registry Key Help, please?
« on: November 17, 2007, 02:03 PM »
Thanks so much for your quick reply!

As usual, I've stated my question AND my problem incompletely. I have a set of nifty wallpapers designed to stretch across my dual monitors (www.digitalblasphemy.com) but they must have the "Position" set to "Tile". (I was wrong; the default is "Stretch") I'm using gPhotoShow (www.gphotoshow.com) to use these and others as ScreenSavers, too. One of the features of gPhotoShow is that it can set the last used ScreenSaver as wallpaper when you've finished enjoying the pretty pictures on the screen. But since a change of wallpaper resets the "Position" to "Stretch" it all gets messed up.

I see where you've directed me in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] but that seems to only reflect or change the current setting. Shouldn't I be making the changes in [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop] to make "Tile" the default?

DesktopCoral / Registry Key Help, please?

Experimentation is great fun ... until you really screw something up! With a view toward averting that, can someone tell me how/where to make a registry edit (?) so that the default wallpaper setting is "Tile" instead of "Center"?

I've had a Wacom for a couple of years and support all of the above (positive) comments. I've often wished that I'd spent a few more dollars for the Bluetooth model though. Sometimes you want to just kick back to draw, etc. Untethered reduces concerns and considerations about footprint, too. It's easier to stick it out of the way yet still have it readily available.  :-*
