You could try the "nuclear option" and rebuild the thumbnail cache, that might clear out something - instructions here.

Yeah Windows managing paging is a terrible idea. So many many times I look at a server and the recommended page file size is say 8200mb, but directly underneath that is a note that it's currently using 4140mb.

It looks like you have lots of stuff in Downloads. It's perfectly fine to save things there if you want, however you don't want to clog up your C: drive.

Right click on Downloads and go to Properties and click the Location tab. Use the Move button to change the place where Downloads points:

If you're going to save videos in Downloads, best to move it away from C: if you can.

^ What 4wd said - Wiztree. First pane shows where the space is being used. Second pane is top 1000 largest files. Between the two of them you'll get a better picture of what's used where.

Maybe that should get you to make a NANY 2022 area?

Yea... New Area for the Next Year!

Very Nice!

The first time it ran Avast slapped it while it checked if it was ok, which threw a few unhandled exceptions, then when it decided the program was ok it restarted fine. I moved the exe into a good place and added the content menu, very handy tool! Thank you!

So how long has it been since techsupportalert started pushing full-page popup ads, did I miss the start or is this new?

Does not make me want to revisit.   :o

General Software Discussion / Re: Any taskbar hiding applications?
« on: March 11, 2021, 07:50 PM »
On my Win 10 20H2 system, dual monitors but no special management software for it, with taskbar set to auto-hide, this app indeed makes the taskbar on the primary monitor go away and stay away. No issue with full screen programs or mousing into the edge. If I hit the Windows key, the start menu pops up but does not show over the area where the taskbar would be. On the second screen the taskbar will still pop up if I mouse into the edge.

Nice work!

Of course it sticks out of the side, daring me to break it off.

FWIW, ever since my daughter shoved her laptop in the bag with the tiny mouse dongle still there, and it proceeded to shove itself into the innards and ruin that port (thankfully nothing else), I have insisted on making all dongle connections with these 6" extenders (sample pic). There's no way to forget something is plugged in. Additional benefit, my wife's arthritis in her hands is fairly advanced and these make it possible for her to plug and unplug a tiny dongle.

;D Yes, that it does! It is very different from CSVpad, I'd say a much more "primitive" interface and uses more screen space. At least it's not just wasted white space like so many programs (looking at you, MS 365 admin!).

12
So that said, looks like this unit might actually do what you want. Seems a little pricey but depends on how bad you want it.

13
Well whatever you end up with, be sure to check "this" out first... Don't trust the title, check product description!  ;D

14
Was CSVEd missing some feature that you needed? Or was the interface just too different?

15
Try CSVEd. I have had it around since version 1.4 and it's now at 2.5.6.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Capture of Second Screen is Messed up
« on: January 23, 2021, 07:16 PM »
No, I apologize, I see what you mean, I was not reading the post carefully enough and was thinking the problem was the second screen in the capture of the entire workspace. If you're capturing just the second screen, you would like it to be 1920x1080 instead of 2560x1440 which is the highest rez of your screens.

Did you select something on your second screen and choose the "Grab Current Screen" option for your example? I don't recall the keypress for that because I swap two of mine. I always (99.99% of the time) use the "Grab Selected Region" option and that's what I map my PrtScr key to. If you use that option you should be able to select the whole screen and it should come out correct.

Likely. What would you have SC do in that case? You wouldn't necessarily want to expand the smaller screen automatically to be "the same" height because that would alter the relationship between the two which might be significant.

I can see that the extra space on the right side might be automatically removed since it would not be significant, maybe that would be an option for Mouser to consider.

T-Clock / Re: T-Clock
« on: January 20, 2021, 04:01 PM »
There isn't an installer, but here are the notes I have on it for how I always set it up - current version ought to be similar:

How to set up T-Clock 2010 build 95

1. Copy the entire T-Clock folder (contains Waves, Win32, x64 folders) into Program Files
2. Run clock.exe from the subfolder of the proper bitness
3. Right click and choose T-Clock Properties
4. On the About tab select Start T-Clock when Windows starts
5. On the Clock Text tab, choose Marlett, size 8 neither bold nor italic
6. On the Time Format tab, check Custom Format and set it to hh:nn:ss  POSIX\ndddd mmmm d, yyyy
7. On the Mouse tab, set the Action to Show Calendar and set the tool tip to dddd mmmm d, yyyy

So basically you want to know if there is remote control software for Windows?

Brynhildr
UltraVNC

and myriad other options. If something like this isn't what you mean, then you are going to have to explain what you want to do a little better.

FWIW, I like Brynhilder because it (so far) does not seem to be picked up as a PUP by most a/v. If I could make it write an event log entry when a connection is made or dropped that would be a welcome addition.

Can you match the carpet nap on a 3d printer? If so then scissors and print...

fSekrit / Re: fSekrit 1.40 quarantined by Windows 10
« on: November 13, 2020, 06:06 AM »
I did ponder a bit whether to continue using executable compression – one of the points of fSekrit is to be tiny, but the savings might not be worth it compared to hassle from shitty AV software... And the 1.40 exe would still be < 100kb without compression.
Tiny has a different meaning these days. It does not need to fit on a 3.5" floppy...

Seems like anything packed with UPX makes AV go squirrel shit.

This.

There isn't such a need for it these days anyway.
