Is a long article in the New Yorker about Ithkuil a compliment or something else?

For the rainy Arizona picture, I have a GE J1470S digital camera which has a Panorama mode. For the other panorama(the previous day) I took 5 or 6 panoramas with that camera and made a larger panorama with Serif PanoramaPlus Starter Edition.

This is what happens to DClock 2 on a Win 7 with expanded text after you expand the size to match the desktop. This screenshot is for App103 because I couldn't put it in a personal message(no way to attach it).

A "tablet dinner" would be a bag of cookies or chips.  A "smartphone dinner" would be mints or gum.

I've wondered if a "computer dinner" is different than a "TV dinner"? Am I so weird that I am the only person who has thought about this? Is a "laptop dinner" different than a "desktop dinner"? Would a "mainframe dinner" be a multi-course feast. A"supercomputer dinner" would be Molecular gastronomy.

While looking for a working link to the paper above, I found a site with more exotic research. The link to the paper is betwen the article and the comments.

This lamp isn't the kind of thing you would give your college student:

Father: What happened to your desk lamp?
Son: My roommate(that's the way my dictionary spells it) ate it.
Father: I hope it gave him indigestion!

How could you study with what those raucous dorm dwellers threatened to do to your vulnerable light source?
Oh! the existential angst of a starving student forced to eat his desk lamp!  Better a nice, safe, inedible lamp.

I just got a Win 7 machine and didn't like the Start menu, so I installed ClasicShell 3.6.2 and changed my Start menu to this:

Living Room / Anyine here use ClassicShell in Windows 7?
« on: December 01, 2012, 10:23 AM »
I just got a Win7 computer and prefer the XP hierarchical start menu to the one below(too flat), so I got ClassicShell. Does anyone here have any experience using it or have any problems with it?

What gif?

General Software Discussion / Re: Are you going to wait for Windows 9?

It seems that Microsoft is doing a flanking attack on Apple(goal: Apple pie?) and the "creative" and "out of the box" people are complaining. They expect Microsoft to say "Let them eat cake (Linux)!" next. "Lack of discoverability" seems to be a "lack of documentation" problem. See Tomos' Win8 tips thread. The screenshot below is from Wordnik about discoverability. I hope people don't think this comment belongs in the 'Silly Humor' thread.

General Software Discussion / Re: Tips for Windows 8 (got any?)
« on: November 27, 2012, 11:45 AM »
Windows 8 is too young. It's probably still full of bugs.
It’s a little mad buying immediately a new OS. It’s wise instead waiting for some years before buying it, so in the meantime many bugs will be fixed.

+1(I presume). This is why I expect to get a Win 7 machine. Timing is everything.
