I haven't seen this behaviour since using 2.05/beta. I'll keep you informed...

Hi Stefan,

ok, done.

The horiziontal scroll would be really nice, too - but mostly I'm in need for the automatic vertical scroll ...

Maybe it's already there but I can't find it?

Sometimes I need to capture a complete window which has to be scrolled to make all content visible.

Hyperionics Hypersnap is able to scroll a window itself and capture the whole content. I need this feature really often and would like to be able to do this with SC.

Hi mouser,

sometimes (no guess, when and why) SC automatically changes the screenshot directory to C:\ after deleting an image. I saw this the second time now. Just pressed <shift+del>. SC removed the file and opened C:\ as new directory.

An additional bug in the details view: Press <ctrl+d>, if thumbnail view is active. Klick on ".." to go one step up in the directory tree. Klick on "Screenshots" to go back to the original screenshot directory. You will find it EMPTY. Pressing <ctrl+d> againg solves the problem and SC displays the content of the directory.

Screenshot Captor / Resize: Quick border resets image size
« on: November 10, 2005, 01:49 AM »
Hi mouser,

small bug in 2.03.10: press <ctrl+g>, choose a preset. Then enter a number in the quick border field.

Result: The choosen image size will be reset to the original value.

To add a border with "quick border" we have to enter the border size first, before we define the new image dimensions.

Wow. Incredibly fast! :-)

Well, it's much better now!

But if I manually change the file extension to any non graphics related one, SC adds the extension that belongs to the file type in the drop down box. e.g. the prefilled file name is "captortest.jpg" and I remove the "jpg" part and replace it by "hhh", the resulting file name is "captortest.hhh.jpg". = Correct!

But now, if I replace "jpg" by "gif", SC creates a GIF file "captortest.gif", even if the file type points to JPG - that is intelligent, but either it should also change the drop down file type to GIF, so it is selected the next time I want to save a file, or it should not translate the extension to a format but use the selected format in the drop down instead (and add the correct extension if none or a wrong one is given). We can discuss if a wrong extension should be replaced or not - sometimes it makes sense NOT to replace it. e.g. if I want to create a GIF file named "giftest.bmp" to test the capabilites of my image reader :-)

Hi mouser,

a very good thing to switch antialiasing off! Thanks, that solves the problem with blured text.

ctrl+e, save copy as: Once you have saved a file as .GIF (or in any format other than PNG) and want to save a second copy in a different format, SC reverts the filename to <whatever>.PNG but remembers the previously seleted file format in the second drop down box. If you change the file extension to .jpg, SC saves the file as jpeg and does not honour the file type box.

I think you should synchronise the filename and filetype boxes when displaying this dialog. They should point to the same type (e.g. jpg) to avoid confusion.

And I think SC should use the file format referenced in the file type drop down and change or add the file extension accordingly. (And not use the typed extension and ignore the file type drop down...)

(Not sure whether it's clear what I mean ... ;) )

That sounds good to me! Will check it as soon as the file is available.

Good news!

I guess you'll announce the update here once it is available?

could you send me the image+objects file of an example picture where you can see this effect and i can more easily try to find a good fix?

The files are on their way :-)

About your solution regarding the 'save - new screenshot problem': That sounds OK to me.

Screenshot Captor / Some problems
« on: October 18, 2005, 04:29 PM »
Hi,

first of all, it is annoying that Screenshot Captor does not remember the "Save copy of image as ..." folder. Each and every time I use this command (and I use it OFTEN) I have to retype the complete folder. Jesse, can you change that, please?

Then it saves the file (e.g. as a .gif) and additonally a file named "name.gif.objects". If I save a "copy of file", I only want the pure output and no additional files. The .objects file has to be saved with the original screenshot only, IMO.

Apart from that the text I have typed inside the image is rendered incorrectly. What I see inside SCaptor is not the same what I get in the saved (copy of) file. To see what I mean have a look at http://silo.kanns.de...ilder/messi_text.gif. The upper part shows what I see in SC, the bottom what I get in the exported .gif.

Then I took a capture and edited it. Without explicitly saving the changes, I took another capture - and lost all my changes in the previous capture! It reverted to the original captured screen.  :tellme:

Another strange thing: I made a capture, edited it, made a second capture - and had two times the same output. No matter which thumbnail (on the left side) I clicked, I always got the second capture. After restarting SC, it displayed both (different) captures correctly.

May it as it be ... SC is a GREAT piece of software. Let's start bughunting :-)
